The miniature Einstein horse became an overnight sensation after its appearance on Oprah. But is he truly the most miniature horse in the world? Let’s find out!
Einstein, the miniature horse, was born in New Hampshire on April 22, 2010, on a farm. As his parents were average-sized at 32 and 30 inches tall, everyone was surprised when he was born weighing only 6 pounds and measuring 14 inches, setting a world record for the most miniature newborn horse.
Is Einstein still alive?
Yes! His co-owners, Charlie Cantrell and Dr. Rachel Wagner relocated him to Washington, but he has since returned to New Hampshire.
What is Einstein’s current height?
He measures 24 inches in height and weighs approximately 80 pounds at the withers.
How old is Einstein?
Currently, he is 13 years old. The average lifespan of miniature horses is 25 to 35 years, so it is hoped that Einstein has many years ahead of him.
What is the horse Einstein doing now?
After his appearance on Oprah, his fame skyrocketed. Einstein has a Facebook Page, a YouTube channel, a Twitter account, and an Instagram account.
His website, Smallest Stallion, contains the most recent media releases, games, and more.
His co-owners have authored a children’s book, A Friend for Einstein, the Smallest Stallion, which tells his story and features photographs of the many other adorable animals in his life.

Is Einstein, however, the most petite horse ever?
No! In Missouri in 2001, a dwarf miniature horse named Thumbelina was born. She attained a height of 17 inches and a weight of 57 pounds, earning her the title of world’s smallest from Guinness World Records. In 2008, sadly, Thumbelina passed away.

Black Beauty, a miniature horse, previously held the record with a height of 18.5 inches.
Who will be the world’s most petite horse in 2022?
The petite living horse in the world is Bomber (also known as “Bubble”) from Poland, which measures 22 inches in height.
What’s up with Koda?
Koda, another dwarf Minatrue Horse, is the most petite horse in Australia at 23 inches in height.
So why is Einstein so exceptional?
Einstein is a miniature horse, not a dwarf! Unlike Thumbelina and Bomel, the current record holders, Einstein is proportioned precisely like a full-sized horse. According to the breed standard, dwarf miniatures typically have undesirable conformation, and many suffer from severe health problems due to their disproportionate body.
When he was only two months old, he made headlines when he suffered a spinal cord injury. Einstein established a new record as the first (and only) horse to undergo neurosurgical treatment by a canine specialist neurosurgeon.
The risky operation was successful and saved his life.
Exists a second Einstein horse exist?
Yes. Einstein was also the name of a thoroughbred stallion born in 2002, not to be confused with the tiny horse. He was imported from Brazil to the United States, where he had a successful racing career, earning over $2.9 million.
