Scientists have proven it: Money can buy happiness
An experiment published the other day in the science journal PNAS showed that money can indeed buy happiness. According to the study, scientists examined the effects of giving 200 people a one-off $10,000, and the results were quite surprising.
The University of British Columbia in Canada conducted an interesting study. Scientists studied 300 participants from 3 low-income countries (Brazil, Indonesia, and Kenya) and four rich countries (Australia, Canada, the US, and the UK).
Within the scope of the research, 10 thousand dollars was deposited into the accounts of 200 participants. The participants were followed for six months compared with 100 people who continued their everyday lives and did not receive money. At the end of the study, those who received money said they felt happier, regardless of how they spent it.
THEY FELT HAPPIER WITH 10 THOUSAND DOLLARS
They are now looking at whether any particular purchase leads to the most happiness. As expected, participants from three low-income countries experienced the greatest satisfaction.
The research paper, published in the renowned scientific journal PNAS, is an exciting example of how money can buy happiness. Participants who received 10 thousand dollars felt as happy as if they had won the lottery.
