A growing interest in Lensa, which creates your avatar with artificial intelligence
Lensa (Lensa AI), a photo editing app developed by Prisma Labs and available on iOS and Android platforms since 2018, has increased its popularity thanks to the AI-powered Magic Avatars feature it introduced a while ago.
Lensa realizes the Magic Avatars feature from within the application and processes it through the open-source Stable Diffusion artificial intelligence model based on 10 to 20 portrait photos you have selected. The application provides this processing process from Amazon’s AWS cloud system. Since the photos are processed by artificial intelligence, the process takes considerably longer to complete than other editing processes. In my own trials, I encountered a waiting time of 40 minutes.
Users’ interests multiplied
On the other hand, the application, which launched the Magic Avatars feature in November, reached 1.6 million downloads in November alone. In October, the number of downloads was 220 thousand. In other words, there is a growth of more than 600 percent. The total number of downloads of the application has exceeded 20 million.
On the other hand, Lensa’s move raises some privacy concerns. “As soon as avatars are created, the user’s photos and the related model are permanently deleted from our servers,” the company explained. A similar statement is also notified to the user through the Lensa application.
