Five times heavier than Titanic: The world’s largest cruise ship makes its maiden voyage
Wonder of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship with a capacity of 6,988 guests and 2,300 crew members, set sail on its maiden voyage.
Wonder of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, whose construction started in 2019, embarked on its maiden voyage from Florida to the Caribbean in recent months.
The 236 thousand 857-ton giant ship, which is 5 times heavier than the world-famous Titanic, attracts attention with its features that do not look like luxury hotels.
With a capacity of 6,988 guests and 2,300 crew members, the giant ship has its own Central Park, ice rink, casino, 19 swimming pools, 20 restaurants and 11 bars, while the floating hotel is 362 meters long and 64 meters wide.
Decorated with more than 20,000 flowers, the ship, which consists of eight separate compartments, will offer five to seven-night vacation experiences from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the Caribbean during March, before embarking on Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona and Rome in May.
DELAYED DUE TO COVID-19
The construction of the giant ship, which started in 2019, was originally planned to start its operations in 2021, but the construction process suffered technical disruptions due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The route of the ship, which was previously announced to be launched from China, was also changed and launched from Florida.
