Tesla Cyberquads recalled

Tesla Cyberquads for children recalled for safety reasons

Failure to comply with U.S. regulations, specifically mechanical suspension and maximum tire pressure level

Tesla’s new recall does not concern one of its electric cars, but the now-famous Tesla Cyberquad for kids or the special all-terrain four-wheeled vehicle that details the design of the standard version, which was officiated along with the mammoth Cybertruck pickup truck. An estimated 5,000 models of the quad were sold. The reason for the recall lies in non-compliance with U.S. safety regulations, with the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission ruling that it was not fully compliant.

The original Cyberquad had appeared in the now-infamous Cybertruck unveiling event peppered with the epic-fail of shattering shatterproof glass: the battery-powered quad (all-terrain vehicle) is designed for climbing aboard the pickup and sitting in the large rear compartment, ready for use. While waiting for the debut (delayed, as is Tesla tradition), a children’s version was made official in December 2021. That is wrong to consider it a mere toy since it can provide a range of up to 24 km and reach a top speed of 16 km. The construction materials are quality; there are disc brakes and padded seats in addition to LED lights. Despite its price of nearly 2,000 euros, the quad bike sold out immediately and has also been the focus of accidents caused by dastardly drivers who were anything but children.

The company Radio Flyer, which manufactured the quad bike following Tesla’s design, will be in charge of the recall; it is required to send the motor controller that disables the vehicle. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the reasons relate to safety standards for younger users with problems involving mechanical suspension and inadequate maximum tire pressure, also not fully complying with regulations for all-terrain vehicles for distribution in the U.S. market.

What are the Cyberquad Features?

The Cyberquad model, which Tesla launched as a suitable vehicle for children, is an ATV model that can travel a maximum of 24 kilometers. Since the vehicle is generally produced for children, the highest speed it can reach is around 16 kilometers per hour. The weight it can carry does not have a fast charging feature as an ATV model that can allow up to approximately 55-60 kilograms. Therefore, it takes about 5 hours for the vehicle to be fully charged. The version of the Cyberquad model designed for children is a version that needs to be assembled without coming in one piece. For this, people who buy the product must assemble the other hardware parts one by one for the ATV, which has a complete steel body. According to the information received on the website, it is stated that an allen key is used to assemble its parts for the installation consisting of 18 stages. After the assembly process is done in this way, it can be used as a safe ATV model that children can use in accordance with the necessary conditions.
